Lycoming Engine Overhaul Shop

There are a lot of variables that go into an overhaul such as what parts are re-used vs what parts are always new. Quality overhaul shops and "field" overhaulers are not equal in many regards. However for a Lycoming 4 Cylinder Aircraft Engine such as O-320 Series or O-360 Series you can expect to pay somewhere between $25,000 - $30,000  for a quality overhaul.

Most Lycoming 4 Cylinder Overhauls can typically be complete in as little as month. However with current supply issues and crankcase machine shops being backed up overhauls are projected to take approximately 4 months to complete form the time we receive your engine.

Yes! We test run every engine after overhaul to ensure it operating within Lycoming Specifications and begin the initial break-in. We also do a complete inspection. (No More Leaks on Freshly Overhauled Engines!)

We first follow Lycoming Mandatory SB 240W which lists all the parts which must be replaced at overhaul. In addition to these parts our overhauls also always include a New Lycoming Camshaft and Cam Followers (Tappets), New Lycoming Oil Pump Assemblies, New Skytec Starters, New Slick Magnetos, New Ignition Harness, New Spark Plugs, and Upgraded Silicone Valve Cover Gaskets. We also assemble our engines with all New Hardware. 

We always encourage our customers to install New Cylinders when they overhaul their engines, however the choice is ultimately up to you. You can overhaul your current cylinders or install New cylinders. You can even decide on what type of finish you want for your cylinders or upgrade to high compression cylinders on certain engines. 

Yes! We have one of the best warranties in the industry. We warranty the bottom end of our overhauls past TBO and for 3 years! Top End (Cylinder) Warranties are warranted by the manufacturer to TBO or 2 years for New Cylinders.

You will need to work with your mechanic, a shop, or one of our approved installers to have your engine removed and crated for shipment. Your engine will then be picked up by a freight company and arrive at our shop shortly after. If needed you can request that we send an empty crate for shipment as well.

Yes! We have a small shop at an airport where we can perform the removal / install and hangar your plane while you are waiting for your overhaul to be completed. These spots are limited, please call to confirm availability.
